A GREAT TRAVEL BOOK GIVEAWAY II CONTINUES
Keep commenting and Tweeting. If you have not yet subscribed, remember that an e-mail subscription gets you an update every time I post, but ALSO two chances in the drawings.
There will be one more drawing tonight, and winners of prizes 6 through 10 will be notified in order. Then the four grand prizes will be announced in order. (Read more on the next page, but do not miss the post below on the new novel Currency.)
Everyone who has commented throughout the contest period is eligible for these grand prizes. Each comment and twitter gets entered once in the drawing and each subscription by e-mail gets entered twice, regardless of whether they have won before. (Only addresses in the United States are eligible for a win–see general rules.)
BIG BOOKS:
The Du Ponts: Houses and Gardens in the Brandywine by Maggie Lidz. Yet another Great American Road Trip Stop, this one in Delaware. This new book holds beautiful pictures of homes and gardens of the wealthy Du Pont family and detailed history of the region. Great for trip planning, or for coffee table browsing.
Inge Morath: Iran This newly published collection features black and white photographs taken by the Inge Morath in the mid 1950′s. Great arm-chair time-travel with stunning photography. While Iran today is very different, commentary by Azar Nafisi (Reading Lolita in Tehran) points out that some things are still the way they were in 1956.
Coast to Coast: Vintage Travels in America, published by Vendome Press. This is another big beautiful book that I hate to part with, however, I have to make room for more new books for future reviews. This book adds perspective to the Great American Road Trip, by showing us what it was like back around the turn of the century (19th to 20th) as people began to take to the road en masse in America.

My husband would LUUUUUV these. He reads a map like a novel.
As for me, I’m content to just Google what I need or get a AAA TripTik for long journeys. I know, pitiful.

Books give the imagination somewhere to begin. Maps help you organize your imagination. Thanks for the contest!
Wouldn’t it be great to have one of the special maps?
