Well, yes, I probably could use one myself, but what I mean by Blog Diet is that A Traveler’s Library is going on short hours the rest of this month through April.
Fewer Posts
I am sorry if you will miss Travel Tuesdays and France (or other countries) on Fridays, but due to other commitments–I’m getting a book to the publisher–A Traveler’s Library is going to slim down to a Monday post and a Great American Road Trip post on Wednesday, except when some guest post friends chime in from time to time.
Updated Books Page
Don’t worry, I still am reading that big stack of books. If you are curious, I updated the Books page of the blog so you can see how far behind I am in the reading department.

New Book Being Born
In case you don’t know the story, my friend Charnell Havens (who sells real estate in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia) and I have been carrying this book for longer than an elephant gestates. In this case over ten years. But it will be born in one year, thanks to Schiffer Books. Which means that April is being devoted to dusting off and sprucing up the manuscript, which is (thank goodness) already written.
The book is about the life and art of Navajo artist Quincy Tahoma (1917-1956) who spent most of his life in Santa Fe, New Mexico. If you would like to know more about him, check out our web site and our blog. In the February/March issue of Santa Fean magazine, (Note: Sorry no longer available), Joseph Smith wrote a very nice essay about Tahoma. It expresses the warm feelings, and family stories that we have encountered again and again as we pursue Quincy Tahoma’s life story.
And that, my friends, is why this blog is on a diet.

Enjoy the time off from the blog, I think you’ll find it refreshing once you get back in the swing of things.

Anil: The time off is definitely not a vacation. It is because I am overloaded with book-related chores. But I think you’re right, a little break will be good for everybody.
And thanks everybody for their good wishes. I meant to add that I’ll celebrate my return to normal schedule by holding a HUGE giveaway in May of all the books reviewed since January (except the ones I read from the library, of course).
I will soon be starting an e-newsletter for the Tahoma book project, and hope that some of you will sign up to receive those updates. And we are trying to share our road to publication on the Tahoma blog, too.

I love Santa Fe. I am wearing a ring I purchased at the Inn of the Governors! I love to hear about artists like Quincy Tahoma. Thanks! -r
WOW!! Congratulations on the book deal and I hope you get all done in time for publication. Will definitely want to read it when it comes out.
We will survive with the fewer posts because we know it is for a worthy cause
Good luck with the book! Can’t wait to see it published!
