Kerry: No on both counts, although thanks so much for pointing out the reference to Plant in Del Suggs' song. I loved St. Augustine on my one visit there, and have always wanted to go back.

Thanks for sharing your adventures in Florida! That museum looks amazing. Too bad you didn't have more time to spend there.

Vera,
your post made me think of two things: a song by Florida musician Del Suggs called, I think, Standing in the Rain, in which he speaks of the homeless on Tampa's streets standing 'in the shadow of Plant's pride.' We'll get to more of Del's work when the road trip reaches Florida.

and the Lightner Museum in Saint Augustine. It's a trip back to the gilded age, certainly, in another building connected with Plant which used to be a hotel. The collections are very spruced up looking now, but when I was a little kid it was not so -- you could wander around and touch a lot of the stuff. My mother loved running different songs on the player piano there, which they let you do in those days.

do you know the song, and have you been to the Lightner?
