the blue ridge is so beautiful. it's easy to understand why those mountains hold so much music.

Angelo:
You've taken what I consider a dream trip. All the most beautiful parts of America. I hope that you got to see the Public Television programs on National Parks by Ken Burns. Thanks for joining our conversation here.

I live in Ohio. A few years ago, after I retired, my wife and I traveled the southern route to California and returned the northern route. We visited every national park along the way going and coming back. They were all so beautiful. The Grand Canyon and Giant Trees of the Sequoia National Parks stand out. It took us one month. We have also traveled to Florida several times and always took the Blue Ridge Parkway going and coming.
I will not hesitate to say that the Blue Ridge is as beautiful if not more beautiful then them all.

I've never been to this part of the country b/c I live in the Pacific NW where there are tons of mountains. I tend to head for the beaches on vacation. However, this post makes me want to check it out.

Mara: I speak from experience. We took our boys on this road when they were just a little older than yours, and they loved it. Plenty of places to stop and picnic and run around. And we saw a snake trying to swallow a frog. Doesn't get more boy-friendly than that!

I don't tend to think about traveling in this part of the country but this sounds like a road trip my family would love. Thanks for the suggestion - and the beautiful description and photos.
