Stephanie: Thanks for the link to the Slate Article. Very interesting, particularly in light of Brown's interview on the Today show in which he talks about how careful he is to be accurate! Of course it IS fiction, after all. And if it does for D.C. tourism what it did for Florence and Rome--Look out.

Hi,

I haven't read Dan Brown's new book but from what I've heard it's not terribly accurate. At least according to this Slate article:
http://www.slate.com/id/2228587/.

I think people in DC are generally not thrilled with his book but so it goes.

I'm trying to think of any non-political thrillers set in DC but failing. I have an anthology of DC Noir edited by George Pelicanos which is kind of cool.

Alexandra: That's kind of what I thought, too, although for those of us who have already combed the sites, it would be interesting to look at them with this new viewpoint. And I agree--kudos to the tourism office!

I grew up in DC, so the idea of visiting the sites in Dan Brown's new book seems like a strange way of getting its flavor to me, but hey, kudos to the Tourism Office for its quick response to this new bestseller!
